picspam: why i'll never find love [what some call insanity]

I'd like to begin by blaming this on

zinke and her fabulous Space Cowboys Picspam, in which she stated "these guys have all but ruined me for anyone else". I realized long ago that my chances of being happy with anyone normal are slim to none - I'm forever going to be on the lookout for some forbidden, angsty, intergalactic soulmate.

So I started thinking about my favorite characters and what traits they might have in common so I'll have an idea of what to look for in reality! Here's what I came up with.

I need a soulmate who...

1. Makes jokes in inappropriate situations.

Somewhere in the distance they could hear Peeves zooming through the corriders singing a victory song of his own composition:

We did it, we bashed them, wee Potter's the one,
And Voldy's gone moldy, so now let's have fun!

"Really gives a feeling for the scope and tragedy of the thing, doesn't it?" said Ron, pushing open a door to let Harry and Hermione through.

Her'ak:No matter what you have endured, you have never experienced the likes of what Anubis is capable of.

O'Neill: You ended that sentence with a preposition. Bastard!

2. Goes against authority for the greater good.

3. I can't have (at least not at first).

4. Can rock a t-shirt.

5. Can rock a skirt.

(Okay, so you can't SEE the skirt - it's impossible to find decent 24 screencaps - but she IS rocking it. She's rocking the top pretty hard, too.)

6. Will kiss me in the middle of a battle just for the hell of it.

7. Looks sexy with a gun and isn't afraid to use it...

8. ...or looks sexy with a gun and is terrified to use it.

(Like I said - impossible to find decent 24 screencaps.)

9. Saves the world and/or humanity on a regular basis.

10. Won't give up on me, at the risk of their own demise, even when I'm facing certain death/may already be dead.

Now, I'm not picky. I can probably make do with 7/10 of these traits. If anyone knows someone who might fit this bill, you guys know how to reach me.

True story - I saw that SG-1 screencap for #10 and got really excited despite the really ugly Carter hair, because I can tell from said hair that the cap is obvs from season 4 and therefore I will be watching that episode soon!

Your picspam also makes me want to do my own picspam of "reasons I will never meet my soulmate irl", except I'm super lazy and don't know where to find caps for any of my shows.

Gonna break it to you, bb. It sounds like your soulmate is a redneck (then again, you're from Louisiana, it might not be as big a deal to you).

After years with the X-Files and watching Scully's hair evolve, I never ever ever thought I would be one of the people who thinks the shorter Carter's hair, the better, but yeah.

Though from what I've seen she has long hair in Continuum that I laaaahv.

That haircut is just so floohfy and impractical, and it would ALWAYS be in your eyes, and I just think it's too soft and expensive-looking for Carter. Plus not military regs afaik.

But maybe I'll come around to it? I'm only on the third episode of the season, after all.

Well, you'll only have to deal with it for half the season or so. And don't get me wrong, I love Carter's shorter hair (though my favorite hairstyle of hers on the show is probably season 8 and forward-ish - apart from the long hair in the movies and SGA, which is just gorgeous), but I don't know... I have a special love for the season 4 hair. Even though I know it drove Amanda kinda crazy because it was just somewhere inbetween being short and being long. BUT SHE WAS SO PRETTY IN IT. *points at icon*

Yeah, I mean it would drive *me* crazy too! Actually, I had hair that length about four years ago and it *did* make me batshit crazy growing it out -- especially without the benefit of constant professional hairstyling like she would've had :P.

OKAY OKAY YEAH IT'S PRETTY BUT it still makes me just want to yell at her to get a damn haircut. But it is pretty.

(And probably nice for grabbing in bed :XXXXXX)

A bit late to this argument, LOL, but I love that hair. I prefer it a little longer, or at least slightly more styled a la seasons 9/10.
