First of all, thank you so much for writing for me! I can't wait to see what you come up with! I am very easy to please, especially when it comes to these wonderful, often-underrepresented ships! I hope that this letter will help answer any questions you may have, but rest assured that I will be excited and delighted by whatever you have to offer.

Damages, SJA, The Closer, and ASOIAF )

General preferences: I love new takes on characters I love, whether it's through putting them in new situations or simply through character studies. I love AUs, although generally I prefer "what if?" scenarios to completely different universes (i.e. "What if Ellen hadn't walked away at the end?" rather than "Ellen and Patty in the wild west!" - modern AUs being the exception). I'm a big fan of melancholy/bittersweet stories, which would definitely suit some of these ships very well, but I can also get on board with super angsty or fun and silly. I'm fine with anything from G to NC-17. Mostly, I hope you have fun writing this story, and I can't wait to read it!

Hello, kind [livejournal.com profile] rarewomen author!

I've never participated in this particular exchange before, but I'm very excited to see what you come up for for me. I'll be thrilled just to see any of the ladies I selected featured in any fic, so there's very little pressure. I'm pretty easy to please! I hope that this letter will help answer any questions you may have, but rest assured that I will be excited and delighted by whatever you have to offer.

Damages )

The Sarah Jane Adventures )

Star Trek: The Next Generation )

General preferences: I'm a big fan of team/family and mentor/protege dynamics. I love new takes on characters I love, whether it's through putting them in new situations or simply through character studies. I like seeing characters out of their element and rising to various challenges, awkward or angsty relationships moving forward in one way or another, hurt/comfort, snarky characters, intelligent kids, and unlikely friendships. I love AUs, although generally I prefer "what if?" scenarios to completely different universes (i.e. "What if Ellen hadn't walked away at the end?" rather than "Ellen and Patty in the wild west!"). I'm a big fan of melancholy/bittersweet stories. I'm fine with anything from G through NC-17 (though for SJA I'd prefer it stay below R) and while smut is fine, I'd prefer it not be simply PWP. No non/dub-con, incest, bestiality, watersports, etc.

Again, thank you for writing for me! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Title: What Mates Do
Author: [livejournal.com profile] averita
Summary: Before Clyde met Luke, he really didn't pay attention to how many celestial bodies came plummeting towards Earth on a regular basis. (Post-The Lost Boy.)
Rating: PG
Word Count: ~2140
A/N: My first Yuletide fic! Written for [livejournal.com profile] philote_auctor, who requested Luke/Clyde friendship. It was a great exercise because I don't think I've ever written a fic in which a female character is not at least one of the major players. I hope I managed it! (Also here on AO3.)

It's the time of the year for year-end memes! But that's not what I'm posting today.

While visiting last weekend, [livejournal.com profile] own_the_sky, [livejournal.com profile] 37_soul_sister, [livejournal.com profile] samcasey, and I were lamenting the loss of LJ in our daily lives. Twitter is great, Tumblr is fun, even Facebook has its moments, but none of these sites allow for the same level of interaction and personal connection that LJ does. This is the site that I came to for intelligent discussion about television as well as incoherent flailing about my favorite ships; more than that, it used to be the best way of keeping up with my friends and the happenings of their lives.

Those days are gone, or at the very least, dying rapidly; I don't post nearly as much as I used to, and when I do, it's more for my own sake than because I expect people to be reading it. I'd love for them to come back, because I do miss the closeness and community that sites like Tumblr - for all their merits - can't hope to replicate. That said, that's not why I'm posting either.

A lot of people have simply gotten out of the habit of updating, and after a month, or two, or six, or even a year has gone by, it might feel weird to suddenly reappear. That's what I'm asking you to do: reappear. If this gives you an excuse to do it, so be it! One entry by the end of the year. Talk about whatever you want - what have you been up to? What are you watching these days? If this is your last post ever, how can we keep in touch? Post the end of the year memes if you'd like. I just think it would be really excellent to see my flist full of posts I actually care about rather than just random communities.

(PS: Please link/otherwise nudge me if you decide to participate! And feel free to share this link if you want to get your friends involved.)

Hello! This is my first time participating in Yuletide, so I'm very excited to dive in, and especially to see what you come up with for me! I'm generally pretty easy to please; I hope that this letter will help answer any questions you may have, but rest assured that I will be excited and delighted by whatever you have to offer!

Covert Affairs )

The Closer )

The Sarah Jane Adventures )

General preferences: I prefer gen fic (canon pairings okay) or femslash, and am a big fan of team/family dynamics. I love new takes on characters I love, whether it's through putting them in new situations or simply through character studies. The three fandoms I've chosen are pretty different, but interesting female relationships are at the heart of them all. I like seeing characters out of their element and rising to various challenges, awkward or angsty relationships moving forward in one way or another, hurt/comfort, snarky characters, intelligent kids, and unlikely friendships. I'm a big fan of melancholy/bittersweet stories, though - at least for SJA - a more or less happy/resolved ending would be appreciated. I'm fine with anything from G through NC-17 (though for SJA I'd prefer it stay below R) and while smut is fine, I'd prefer it not be simply PWP. No non/dub-con, incest, bestiality, watersports, etc.

I hope that's helpful! I know I'll love whatever you come up with. Thanks so much for writing for me!

Summary: "'No one will ever forget that day,'" Clyde quotes, and his own smile fades into seriousness. "I didn't, you know." (Spoilers for "The Curse of Clyde Langer.")
Rating: PG
Word Count: ~1260
Characters/Pairing: Ellie Faber (aka Lila Lincoln), Clyde Langer, Sarah Jane Smith. Can be read as Clyde/Ellie, but not explicit.
A/N: I'm not entirely pleased with this but I've been working on it on and off for months and it's gotten distracting, so I decided to finally polish it up enough to post and move on. It's definitely experimental.
